Carolyn M. Wagner, Secretary


An adopted member of the Kainai Nation, her Blackfoot name is Awanaanaakii (Rattle Woman). She is currently employed with Correctional Service of Canada at the Edmonton Institution for Women as a Behaviour Counsellor, providing Aboriginal cultural support to staff in the Maximum Security Unit and working almost exclusively with the Aboriginal inmates.
She obtained a B.A.(Hons.) in Native Studies at the University of Alberta (2006), and was a Sessional Instructor with the Faculty of Native Studies for two terms. Prior to obtaining her degree, Carol was a regular member of the RCMP for 16 years. She has a Horticulture Technology Diploma from Kwantlen University College (1998), and a Master Gardener Certificate from the Devonian Botanic Garden (2003).
Her personal interests are numerous, one being Native American art and craft. - Niso'kwawiksi, Carol
